The winter solstice 2017 is this coming Thursday, December 21, 2017. Although marked as the shortest day of the year, there are things you need to know about this special day. One significant thing to know about winter solstice is that it occurs when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Capricorn.
The sun will up less than it used to. Some places may experience less than 9 hours of daytime. Well, many of my cool Pagans really love this day. For instance, the celebration at Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England. One should expect to see a lot of cool things. Another place that significantly draws attention is the Newgrange, a 5,200-year-old passage tomb in northeast Ireland. I don’t know what all these places have to do with the winter solstice. However, I always think it’s cool to see people come together and enjoy the moment.
Who knows, maybe we can witness the coolest pagan party at the Stonehenge during the 2017 winter solstice. But with the use of today’s technology, many will live stream the gathering at the Stonehenge. Although still not as cool as being there in person, it will still feel great. As for me, I hope to be there tomorrow to capture some good moments. I really don’t care about the alignment of the sun and the tropic of Capricorn. What got me interested was the fact that people have been doing this for years. Therefore, I think that 2017 winter solstice will be cool, and I like cool stuff.
